Monday, November 24

• Meet at the Bessey Hall loading dock for 2 pm departure for travel by van to Kansas City where we will spend the night in an EconoLodge near the airport

Tuesday, November 25

• Depart Kansas City airport at 6:35 AM for air travel to San Jose del Cabo, Baja Califonia Sur, Mexico

• Pick up reserved rental vehicles and travel to La Paz
  
• Group dinner and orientation talk.

Wednesday, November 26

• Morning: Diversity and ecology of Pacific coast fog desert (La Aguja)
• Afternoon: Hike across vegetational zones to the Pacific Ocean

Thursday, November 27

• Travel by charter boat to Isla Espiritu Santo for whale watching, snorkeling with sea lions, and inter-tidal invertebrate survey

Friday, November 28

• Morning: Hike in the Sierra Las Cruces, east of La Paz
• Census reproductive phenology and insect diversity on the Sonoran rock fig, Ficus petiolaris
  
• Afternoon: Punta Arenas de La Ventana
• Mapping of columnar cardón cacti and nurse plants re test of nurse plant hypothesis
  
• Swimming, snorkeling, and beachcombing at Punta Arena de la Ventana

Saturday, November 29

• Morning: Depart for Cabo Pulmo
  
• Afternoon: Time permitting, we will visit the Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve

• Morning: Diversity and spatial ecology of Sonoran Desert plants
• Afternoon: Visit the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park

Monday, December 1

• Morning: Mountain hike with botanizing, birding, and herping.
  
• Afternoon: Diversity and ecology of Sea of Cortez intertidal invertebrates

Tuesday, December 2

• Early morning: Depart by 7:30 AM in preparation for a 12:10 PM airline departure from the San Jose del Cabo Airport. Arrive Kansas City airport at 7:45 PM. Transport to Ames arriving late in the PM
